It
wasn't long after Joanne bought herself a wild
Mustang, when she gave me a call telling me about her
friend who had a mule and was thinking about selling
it and she would really like it. A MULE!!
Who in their right mind would want a mule!?!?!...
Jo Did!! Within a few weeks she was pulling her
trailer up north and she came home with this sweetie.
What I didn't realize is a mule never forgets.
I thought donkeys were smart, this mule has them
beat. |

You can see by the picture that Jem
was a real lover. The horses would
go down to the pasture and Jem would wait
for more treats. Camera shy
she was not. |

The sad part was, once Jem found a way
out, She was always out. No fence
could keep her in. I spent the
better part of two months walking this
mule back home. Looking back
it was almost funny. |

Jem was teaching Jo how to ride a mule. |

When Jem wanted out, she could jump a 5 foot
fence from a stand still. But she would
only try it on one area so I learned to put
an addition to the fence so she couldn't jump
it. Hey! I had one section
of the fence that was 7 feet high but she
finally stayed in. |

You said "Saddle Up!" What's all this
stuff? I'm lookin' like some plow
horse. |

Jem was a good teacher. She taught
Joanne how to ride a mule in no time.
Then again, Jem came from good blood lines.

If your mule ever gets out of the fence,
never have her trot back home along side
your car. Trust me!! When
people go by they start laughing at a
mule who looks as if she is trying to
race a car. |

Yep!
Living in the country has it's moments
and this was one of them |
