Bird Bath

My interest in making stained glass stepping stones for our gardens is what got me interested in taking classes.  The infinite variety of objects a person can design and make is what keeps me hooked!

This was the first mosaic item I made, and is a great way to use up those glass scraps.  The daisy center uses opaque glass globs, and I used an opaque white glass for the petals.  The lady bug, bee, and dragonfly were made of clear glass globs that I backed with 'Brite Back' (silver tape) so the terra cotta color wouldn't interfere. (Unfortunately, the bugs' stripes, spots and wings done in black enamel paint floated off!) In the mosaiced area, wherever I used cathedral (clear) glass pieces (tesserae) I also put Brite Back on the underside of the piece.  'Delorean Gray' sanded grout from Home Depot and Valspar Decorator Enamel in 'Beaumonde' completed this project.
